PBIS, or Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports, is often thought of on the right side of the RtI pyramid. PBIS facilitates the teaching of expected behavior and provides a systematic method of response when students are struggling to meet the identified behavioral expectations.
Andy Kastner, one of our School Psychologists, has been trained as an external PBIS coach through the Wisconsin PBIS Coaches Institute for the Wisconsin Department of Instruction. He has trained an internal coach at each building who then have worked with a team of building staff to plan the implementation of PBIS in each building.
In an effort to help students and families feel connected to PBIS, as a district, we will be calling it “The Tiger Way." All district staff was trained in 2013, and continuing training has been completed at all levels since that first look.
